Academic disciplines are in a constant state of flux, both in terms of the novel themes that are examined as well methods that are employed to conduct research. Operations and Decision Technologies (ODT) department’s Senior Scholars Summer Symposium sought to provide a historical context to and showcase different research themes that are emerging in the academic disciplines of operations management, decision sciences and analytics, and information systems.
On July 15, Kelley ODT faculty gathered for a day-long symposium in Bloomington featuring senior scholars in the department’s disciplines:
- Baris Ata, Chookaszian Family Professor of Operations Management, University of Chicago
- Sumit Sarkar, Charles and Nancy Davidson Chair and Professor of Information Systems, University of Texas at Dallas
- Karen Donohue, Board of Overseers Professor of Supply Chain and Operations, University of Minnesota
- Param Vir Singh, Carnegie Bosch Chair of Business Technologies, Director of PNC Center for Financial Services Innovation, Carnegie Mellon University
In addition to highlighting their past and current research projects and future emerging research themes, these senior scholars participated in a panel discussion, “Preparing for the Future: Emerging Topics and Methods and Gauging Research Impact,” which was moderated by ODT faculty member, Alan Dennis.
Thank you to each of these scholars for their commitment to advancing research in our discipline! The ODT department was honored and delighted to host our senior colleagues in Bloomington.
